Maintenance of the house
Vacuum cleaner: choose for its floors and maintenance
The best equipment for a dwelling is one that allows to clean its surfaces with the accessories and constraints actually available.
Quick response
Essential in a minute
List floors, carpets, stairs and corners, then compare the included brushes and the handling of the device. Check storage, power supply and drain. Add filters, bags or parts necessary for the budget. The power and range data must be read with their context; they do not replace a test suitable for your housing.
1. Describe the surfaces to be cleaned
Count the parts, note the types of flooring, carpets, steps and spaces under the furniture. Add the surfaces you want to deal with with an accessory, such as seats or plinths. Check the recommendations for the maintenance of the coatings before choosing a brush. If the housing has several floors, evaluate the transport of the complete appliance. A precise list eliminates models whose size or accessories do not match the need. It also avoids buying a very well-stocked set of which you will use only a small part.
- Soils and carpets listed.
- Stairs and corners noted.
- Brush compatible with coating.
2. Identify what is delivered
Copy the complete reference and list of brushes, bits, batteries or supports included. Devices with the same range name can be sold in several sets. Compare the price with the necessary accessories added, their availability and any charges. For a wireless device, read the mode of use associated with the announced range and the charging conditions. For a wired device, check the advertised range and your available outlets. Do not deduct an identical performance of two numbers measured or presented under different conditions.
- Accurate reference and set.
- Useful accessories included.
- Conditions of the announced figures read.
3. Compare repeated gestures
Evaluate the weight, control, discharge and access to the components to be maintained. If you can do a test, reproduce a useful manipulation rather than a simple movement on a small free area. Measure the storage location and ask if a fastening or support is necessary. Note the capacity of the collector or bag with your cleaning frequency, without assuming that a large volume is sufficient to determine the ease of use. A less bulky but difficult to empty device may be less suitable for the person who will regularly use it.
- Weights and orders assessed.
- I got it.
- Planned storage and support.
4. Check filters and consumables
See the package leaflet to identify washable, replaceable, or specific filters. Dyson Consulted about its devices and shows the importance of cleaning and drying; it does not allow you to decide how to wash the filter of another reference. Note the price and availability of the bags, filters and parts necessary for the chosen model. Upon receipt, check the supplied set and keep the instructions. In the face of a decline in operation, follow the manufacturer's diagnosis before replacing the device or attempting an unplanned intervention.
- Specific note read.
- Filters and parts available.
- Maintenance and drying included.

Frequently Asked Questions
Useful answers
Does the electrical power indicate all the efficiency?
Also compare brushes, system, surfaces and test context. Only one data does not describe handling or performance on all coatings. Ask for appropriate documentation for your use.
Do all filters wash?
No: Check the model and part instructions. A method for a specific filter should not be automatically applied to another. Follow the rest conditions of the package leaflet.
How to compare the autonomy of two vacuum cleaners?
Look for the modes, accessories and conditions associated with the advertised times. Then compare the useful mode for your floors and charging. Do not assume that the maximum duration corresponds to each use.
